I am shopping for a flat screen TV, but I am puzzled by the different types available. Can you advise me which is better, plasma or LCD TV? Thanks!

Plasma or LCD? Both technologies are stable and robust now, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

I will not be able to do better than this excellent comparison summary found at http://www.flattvpeople.com/tutorials/lcd-vs-plasma.asp

However, the final decision is entirely your own preference and you should view both before parting with your dollars, while keeping the following key points in mind:

1. LCD is more energy-efficient, longer lifespan and brighter overall.
2. Plasma has better contrast, more realistic reproduction for colour and faster motion.

It appears to me that at this time, it is like an audiophile choosing between the audio purity of valve technology (in this case "plasma") versus the efficient and robustness of solid-state transistors (in this case "LCD").

Also at this time, it seems that LCD is cheaper at smaller screen sizes and Plasma is cheaper at larger screen sizes, the breakpoint being somewhere around 40-inches.

When you have made your choice, pleae take part in our online Poll on what is the favourite choice among our Members...Plasma or LCD TV?

Cheers!
