ANNOUNCEMENTS ( 28th February 2010) |

1) SJBA will be organizing an Introduction to Buddhism Course from 5 March to 23 April 2010. The course will run for 8 ccutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required.
2) This morning's Dhamma Talk will be given by uncle Vijaya.
Uncle Vijaya obtained his B.A. (Hons) in English and Linguistics from the University of Malaya and an M.A. (Drama and Theater) from the University of Hawaii in the US. He had a long career teaching in schools as well as in UM, USM and UiTM and Taylor College.
Uncle Vijaya is a much sought after Dhama Speaker. He travels widely to give Dhamma Talks in Malaysia. He has also delivered papers at International Buddhist conferences in Japan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, India, Kampuchea and Thailand as well as locally. He is also active in promoting Interfaith Understanding among Muslims, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS ( 21st February 2010) |

NAMO TASSA BHAGAVATO ARAHATO SAMMA SAMBUDDHASA
1) We wish to invite all members and devotees and your relatives and friends to join us at our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Potluck dinner at SJBA on Saturday, 27/2/10, 7.00pm, to celebrate the Chinese New Year together and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together from some guests from the Old Folks Homes. A lion dance troupe and Choy San Yeh (God of Prosperity) will be around to thrill the children and everyone else. You may bring along some food to share with others.

1) Brothers & Sisters in the Dhamma, we wish you a Happy, Healthy, Successful and Prosperous Year, materially, mentally and spiritually. May the Blessings of the Triple Gem be with you, always!
2) SJBA Sunday Dhamma School Children, Youth Section and Teen Quest Members will be making house calls to bring New Year greetings, songs, Buddhist Hymns and good wishes to the hosts and family. Those who wish to invite them to your homes on 28th February 2010 may book through Sis Lily at Tel. 56348181.

4)The title of this morning's Dhamma Talk is "Imagine", given by Sis Dr. Chan Kah Yein. Sis Kah Yein obtained her B.Sc.(Hons)Ed with first class honours, M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Mathematics Education. Currently, she teaches tertiary level mathematics in a private college in Subang Jaya. Sis Kah Yein enjoys sharing the Buddha Dhamma with friends, promoting kindness to animals, and embracing simplicity in her life.

Sr. Sumana was born in Singapore. He was ordained 45 years ago. He graduated with a Diploma and also a B.A. (Hons) in Buddhist & Western Philosophy. He is the founder of the Buddhist Realists' Centre & Circles. In 2007, he was conferred "Chief Sangha Nayaka" of UK and Europe.

D. Th (Oxford), D.B.S., B.A. (Hons) D.Hom(Med.) (U.K.), N.M.D., D.H.M. (U.S.A.), F.B.I. H. (U.K.), Executive Director, Medical Consultant
Rev. Dr Sumana Siri was born to Singapore parents. He was the first to be ordained in Singapore's history as a monk 45 years ago.
He graduated with a Diploma & also B.A. (Hons) in Buddhist & Western Philosophy with modern languages.
He is the founder of the Buddhist Realists' Centre & Circles. He has addressed people in 56 countries not only on Buddhism but also on History, Sociology and Current Affairs at International Conferences.
In 2007, he was made "Lord Eminent in Buddhist Scriptures" and conferred "Chief Sangha Nayaka Of the U.K. & Europe". The Indian Professionals awarded him with "Glory of India" whose recipients including Mother Theresa, Presidents and Professionals.
To serve the public effectively, he studied Law at London University and Medicine in London which earned him 4 Medical Degrees an advocate of inter-religious dialogue. He earned a Post Graduate in Christian Theology from Oxford University. To demonstrate humanism he walked the entire Great Wall of China in 2000 - 2001 and created a world record. |
