PUJA ANNOUNCEMENTS ( 7th February 2010) |

NAMO TASSA BHAGAVATO ARAHATO SAMMA SAMBUDDHASA
1) SJBA Sunday Dhamma School Children, Youth Section and Teen Quest Members will be making house calls to bring New Year greetings, songs, Buddhist Hymns and good wishes to the hosts and family. Those who wish to invite them to your homes on 28th February 2010 may book through Sis Lily at Tel. 56348181.
2) SJBA will be organizing an Introduction to Buddhism Course from 5 March to 23 April 2010. The course will run for 8 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. All are welcome. No pre-registration is required.
3) The Dhamma Talk in this afternoon's Second Puja Session at 1.15pm will be given by Bro Tan Siang Chye.
4) The title of this morning's Dhamma Talk is 'Experiencing Equanimity, Upekkha: the making of an unexplained meditation" by Rev. Dr. Sumana Siri Sangha Nayaka Thera (UK & Europe). Rev. Sr. Sumana was born in Singapore. He was ordained 45 years ago. He graduated with a Diploma and also a B.A. (Hons) in Buddhist & Western Philosophy. He is the founder of the Buddhist Realists' Centre & Circles. In 2007, he was conferred "Chief Sangha Nayaka" of UK and Europe.

Rev. Dr. Sumana Siri Chief Sangha Nayaka Thera of UK & Europe
D. Th (Oxford), D.B.S., B.A. (Hons) D.Hom(Med.) (U.K.), N.M.D., D.H.M. (U.S.A.), F.B.I. H. (U.K.), Executive Director, Medical Consultant
Rev. Dr Sumana Siri was born to Singapore parents. He was the first to be ordained in Singapore's history as a monk 45 years ago.
He graduated with a Diploma & also B.A. (Hons) in Buddhist & Western Philosophy with modern languages.
He is the founder of the Buddhist Realists' Centre & Circles. He has addressed people in 56 countries not only on Buddhism but also on History, Sociology and Current Affairs at International Conferences.
In 2007, he was made "Lord Eminent in Buddhist Scriptures" and conferred "Chief Sangha Nayaka Of the U.K. & Europe". The Indian Professionals awarded him with "Glory of India" whose recipients including Mother Theresa, Presidents and Professionals.
To serve the public effectively, he studied Law at London University and Medicine in London which earned him 4 Medical Degrees an advocate of inter-religious dialogue. He earned a Post Graduate in Christian Theology from Oxford University. To demonstrate humanism he walked the entire Great Wall of China in 2000 - 2001 and created a world record. |

Upananda is the Abbot of Ehipassiko Buddhist Centre in Calgary, Canada and Resident Dhamma Teacher at Samadhi Buddhist Centre in Pinellas Park, Florida, USA. He graduated with BA Honours in Pali & Buddhist Studies in 1994 and his MA in Pali & Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya in 1996. He was ordained as a Monk 29 years ago.
4) The title of this morning's Dhamma Talk is 'Be Skilful" by Sis Lim Kah Hong. Sis Kah Hong is one of our Sunday Dhamma School Teacher. She graduated from the UNDF Dhamma Speakers Course in 2007. She is a Qualified Accountant by profession.

4) The title of this morning's Dhamma Talk is 'Seeking Wealth and Finding the Balance" by Bro. Tan Huat Chye. Bro. Huat Chye is a much sought after Dhamma Speaker. He has a Master Degree in Socio Psychology. He was member of the Way Farers and is known for writing and composing a number Buddhist hymns. He is a Founder Member and current Advisor of the Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society. He has also presented a number of papers at Buddhist conferences, etc. Bro. Huat Chye is the Principal Consultant of THC Consultancy Sdn Bhd.

Dear Dhamma friends,
Here's the tentative itinerary for Ajahn Brahm in Malaysia.
I have blocked 100 seats for SJBA members for the Dhamma day at Chee Wen on Feb 21. Entrance is by RM30 donation per head. If you wish to attend, please email me your name, email address & handphone numbers, and make payment to Sis Lily by Sunday, Jan 24. First come first basis.
