ANNOUNCEMENTS ( 29th August 2010)
1) SJBA will celebrate our country's 53rd Merdeka Day on this Tuesday, 31st August 2010. The celebration will start with Merdeka Breakfast at 7.45am, followed by Flag Raising Ceremony, Blessings by the Venerable Monks, presentation of Academic Excellence Awards to students who excelled in their examinations in 2009 and a Blessings Service by the Sangha for students sitting for UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM this year.
2) SJBA is organising an Intermediate Course on Buddhism from 3rd September to 8th October 2010. The Course will run for 6 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm, conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Bro Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. The course will cover Buddhist views on contemporary issues and Buddhist living. All are welcome. Please contact Sis Lily at 03-56315299 for further details.
3) Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, a world renowned meditation teacher, poet, scholar and peace activist will be conducting a 5-days Family Meditation "Walk of Peace & Joy" Retreat at Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson from 15th to 19th September, 2010. Thich Nhat Hanh will also be conducting a "Becoming Truly Alive" Day of Mindfulness at Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Setapak on 24th September, 2010. Please check at our Notice Board or call Sis Lily for more information and registration. A bus, leaving from SJBA at 7am to the College, will be arranged for those who have registered for the "Day of Mindfulness" on 24th September. For those who would like to take the bus ride from SJBA, please call Sis Lily to book a place on a first come first serve basis.
4) The Dhamma talk at this afternoon Puja Session (at 1.15pm), is on "Importance of Understanding the Essence of the Buddha's Teachings" will be given by Bro, Teoh Kian Koon.
5) This morning's Dhamma Sharing in Mandarin will be held at our Sima Hall at 10.15am - 11.00am
6) This morning's Dhamma Talk in on "Importance of Buddhist Devotional Practices" by Bro. Teoh Kian Koon. Bro. Kian Koon graduated from the University of Malaya in Civil Engineering in 1979. Since his retirement in 2001 from his engineering career, he has been sharing his understanding and experience with all who are keen to search for true happiness, peace and liberation from birth and death, and all mental suffering to become more virtuous, noble and wiser human beings. He gives Dhamma Talks and holds meditation and Dhamma classes at various meditation centres.

ANNOUNCEMENTS ( 17th August 2010)
1) In conjunction with the 7th lunar month, SJBA is organising a Pattidana on this Sunday Sunday, 22nd August 2010, to dedicate merits to the departed ones. Pattidana is for the benefit of those departed relatives and friends who may have been reborn in certain unfortunate state of existence. When they are aware that their relatives or friends have performed some meritorious deeds dedicated to them, they can be relieved of their suffering. When they rejoice repeatedly, their unhappy birth may be transformed to a happy one. it is the duty of relatives to perform these acts of merits for the departed ones. The Pattidana will start with offering of flowers and lights at 8am, Metta recitation, Buddha Puja, Dhamma Talk by Venerable Sangha Member, dedication of merits to the departed ones.

4.30pm at Room T9, SJBA. The topic is on Recollection of the Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha,
Sila, Caga and Devata.

ORIGAMI is paper folding technique originated from Japan. Using one paper, one can fold to various model without cutting and without using glue. |

1) The Satipatthana Meditation Course conducted by Bhante Nyanaramsi will continue for another 2 more until 27th August 2010, 8.30pm to 10.00pm, followed by a Meditation Retreat Program from 2nd September 2010 to 5th September 2010. For further information, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56315299.
